Woman Reunites With Her Stolen Husky After 2.5 Years Apart

When Kameroun Mares was diagnosed with lymphoblastic leukemia back in 2013, she knew she had to find someone to support her through the hardships of dealing with the disease. This came in the form of an adorable Husky pup named Semper. Sadly, things didn’t go as she planned, and Semper was stolen from Mares when she needed him the most. The tear-jerking moment the woman reunites with her stolen Husky was caught on camera, and it’s undoubtedly the most heartwarming video you’ll see today.

Mares adopted Semper when he was just a puppy. She named him Samper after Semper Fidelis, Latin for ‘always faithful’. Mares was originally from California and went to college in Florida. She flew back home for visits every couple of months and frequently left Semper with her roommate. On one such visit, Mares got the phone call she dreaded the most. Her roommate called to tell her that her doggo disappeared. Despite looking for him everywhere, there was no trace of Semper. It was as if he disappeared into thin air.

Mares flew straight back to Florida and began to vigorously search for her beloved missing dog. She hanged fliers, called shelters, and did everything within her powers to find her missing dog. She even hired the services of a private investigator. Sadly all her efforts were in vain.

A year passed and Mares completely recovered from cancer. She moved back to California but never lost hope of reuniting with her pooch. When she told a friend about her dog’s disappearance, the friend suggested that she’ll recheck her AKC Reunite chip. To her surprise Mares discovered that a year earlier, a few months after her dog’s disappearance, a woman added her name to Semper’s chip. The investigator Mares hired found that the unknown woman attempted to sell Semper on Craigslist for $200.

Her investigator, Ana Campos, now believes that it was Mares’ roommate who stole the doggo in the first place. “He was stolen and sold by her roommate 2 1/2 years ago. She [Mares] was told he was lost on April 30, 2016. But on April 11, 2016 the buyer added their name to his AKC Reunite ‘registered chip’. They registered this registered chip on Petkey pets instead. Petkey pets did not bother to see if he was chipped already,” Campos posted on Facebook.

Mares went to court attempting to reclaim her doggo and thankfully won the case. It was finally time to reunite with Semper after more than 2.5 years apart. If others had even the slightest doubt that Mare was lying, and the doggo wasn’t really hers, these doubts vanished as soon as they saw that the dog remembered all the commands that the woman taught him 2.5 years earlier. We’re so glad that what started as a dire story, came to such a happy ending.
