Rescue Dog Adopts A Litter Of Kittens After Losing All Her Puppies At Birth

When it comes to truly being kind to others, animals leave us, humans, in the dust. Time after time we’re left in awe from the altruistic nature of animals. Shelter staff members were shocked when they saw how this rescue dog adopts three kittens and cares for them as if they were hers, after losing all of her puppies at birth.

Georgia started life as a stray, living in a gas station not far from the Mexico-US border. Luckily, she was eventually rescued by The Sunshine Dog Rescue foundation from Phoenix, Arizona. Volunteers at the organization soon found out that they rescued not one, but 4 souls, because Georgia was pregnant.

Heartbreakingly, Georgia’s pups were born prematurely and didn’t survive birth. It left a deep scar on Georgia’s soul. She was devastated. “I’ve never had a mom dog lose a whole litter before. The best way I could describe it was she was frantic. It was so sad, she was looking for those babies. She tore up the toddler mattress we had her on, trying to find her babies.” CEO of Sunshine Dog Rescue, Anita Osa, told  World News Now.

One of the workers at the shelter suggested that they’d find Georgia orphaned pups to care for, to fill the hole in her heart, but they couldn’t find any on Facebook. What they did find was a litter of kittens that needed warmth, love, and care. Despite having doubts, Osa decided to give it a go. It soon proved to be the right choice.

“I introduced them to her gently. I first bought one out and let her sniff it, and she seemed to accept it, so I brought the others out. It’s amazing to see how she instantly calmed down, I think for the kittens, they have no idea that Georgia is a dog.” Osa concluded.
