It’s a known fact that many dogs despise their mailman. They lurk in the bush, waiting for the perfect moment to ambush the poor guy, who’s just trying to do his job.
In that sense, Moose, a one-and-a-half-year-old Golden Retriever from Grand Rapids, Michigan, is very different from many of his canine friends.
It all started on one winter morning when a new mailman was assigned the route that includes Moose’s house. Moose, who immediately recognized that a new truck was approaching his territory, ran outside, and patiently sat down on the driveway, eager to meet his new friend. As soon as the pup sensed a friendly vibe from the mailmen, he jumped on him, showering him with all the love he had to give. The mailmen sweetly embraced and hugged the loving pup in return.
You can watch the adorable moment as it was captured by Moose’s owner, Meghan Gruszynski, from her bedroom window using the power of her smartphone’s camera:
Now every time the mailman is scheduled to arrive, Moose rashes outside and waits to greet his new-found friend. Since their joyful hugging sesh became a tradition, Moose’s owner got to know his mailman better. He later found that the mailman’s dog died soon before he met Moose and that his dog played a huge role in helping the mailman to overcome his loss.
This story comes to show that sometimes dogs can sense things we simply can’t and provide us with what we need, even before we know we need them!
