It was early in the morning when Jayme Harley was awakened by a series of text messages. Harley eventually gave up sleeping in and looked at her phone. the messages were from her boyfriend, Aaron Peters. The man, who works as a FedEx delivery man, sent her pictures of a badly malnourished Pitbull he found and wrote: “Go get him!”. The woman didn’t have to think twice and rushed to the scene. She was certain that she did the right thing, when she saw how the pitbull falls asleep in her car just seconds after being rescued.
Jayme was still half asleep, so she couldn’t quite grasp how big of a deal it really was. The woman had been urging her boyfriend to adopt another dog for months, and it seemed like he finally gave in. It took Jayme a couple of minutes to realize that it wasn’t a dream nor a joke. Her boyfriend really wanted to adopt the poor little Pitty.
Aaron first spotted the dog when he stopped to get gas for his FedEx truck. The big bright blue eyes of the pooch instantly caught the man’s attention. He knew that he and Jayme could provide the dog with the warm home he so desperately needed.
Jayme jumped in her car and rushed to the gas station to find the doggo. Much to her surprise, the dog hadn’t moved and was in the exact same spot as he was in the picture. Minutes after arriving at the station, a girl stopped by and told Jayme that she had seen the Pitbull jump out of a car several days earlier. The girl then added that no one wanted to take the dog because of his breed. This just reinforced Jayme’s feeling that she had to do something to help him.
Jayme opened her car door, and the doggo jumped straight in. The woman was shocked when she saw just how quickly the pitbull falls asleep in her car. She didn’t even made it out of the parking lot, before the dog began snoring loudly. He knew that he was finally in safe hands and that everything’s going to be just fine from now on.
The two made a stop at the vet on their way home. The vet couldn’t find any microchip on the dog so he treated his mange and released him home. Jayme was slightly anxious as to how the new dog would get along with her other pitbull, kittens, and kids. She quickly found out that she had nothing to worry about.
The pooch, who she named Rufus, instantly got along with his canine sibling. Rufus quickly recovered and showed Jayme and Aaron what a playful pooch he really is. The couple said that he’s the missing piece in their family that they never knew they needed.
