“In all things of nature there is something of the marvelous,” but this flower is something else. Whether you are a flora lover or just seek some beauty, these following pictures will put a smile on your face.
Orchids are let alone beautiful, but this Monkey Orchid will surely make your day.
Every person who appreciates the beauty of the flora world probably has orchids in their garden. In fact, orchids are among the biggest plant families on earth. But did you know that there are up to 30,000 species of orchid? Well, we bet that you’ve never seen this special species, the Monkey Orchid.
The Monkey Orchid, which is also called the Dracula Simia (little dragon monkey) got its name for it looks like a monkey face! The spectacular flower is native to the woods of Peru and Southeastern Ecuador.
The incredible plant found between 1,000 and 2,000 meters above sea level. Only those who live in cold areas can grow them in their gardens since they don’t like the heat and grow in cold temperature that isn’t higher than 5°C and lower than -12°C.
As people are astonished by the way it looks, the flower is created by special blooms shaped by its stamens and petals. The flora itself is fragrant with the scent of a ripe orange and smells lovely when bloomed.
Botanist Carlyle A. Lueren was the first to discover the magnificent flower back in 1978. When they grow in their natural habitat which is in cloudy woods, they can bloom at any season and prefer 70%-100% humidity! They thrive in low light and hate growing in captivity.
The marvelous plant can grow up to two feet tall, and when grown in captivity, botanists recommend potting them un sphagnum moss since they love a humid environment.
What a lovely refreshment! We can only wish to come across such a beautiful flower. Meanwhile, we are delighted by these spectacular pictures.
