Miniature Horse Survived Japan’s Devastating Floods By Standing On A House Rooftop

As hundreds of thousands are ordered to evacuate after heavy rain hits Japan, people leave their houses and release their animals, hoping they would be able to swim to safety.

Leaf and Earth, a mother and her cold were left behind at Life Town Mabi aged care facility in the Mabicho district of Kakehashi to fend for themselves. Leaf is a precious therapy horse that is loved by many. As the mother and son were released, the floodwater got higher, and they rushed to find shelter.

Rescue teams were sent to the area after the rain was calmed down to find casualties. Mari Tanimoto, didn’t believe that the mother and son were gone, the facility caretaker believed they swam to safety.

People were shocked to see a mini horse, Leaf, standing on a private house’s rooftop covered with dirt three days after she was released. The rescue team, Peace Winds Japan was there to help her. They couldn’t believe their eyes and rushed into action.

As they prepared to rescue the mother, she fell from the roof to the ground but luckily, she wasn’t severely injured.

Tanimoto was finally reunited with Leaf, he couldn’t contain the happiness. No one understands how Leaf survived the floods and even got on a rooftop to stay safe since the water level didn’t reach that high.

We were heartbroken to hear that after a few days the rescue team found the little colt dead. Sadly more than 170 people perished in the wake of the floods. Rest in peace, dear Earth.
