20-year-old Raden Soemawinata had to sadly part ways with his beloved granny. The man fulfilled his grandmother’s final wish and scattered her ashes at Melbourn’s Brighton beach. Little did the man know that as he was parting ways with one life, he’ll get the chance of saving another as a terrified dog was on the verge of drowning not too far from there.
The tiny Maltese-Shitzu mix named Bibi was casually walking on the pier with his owner, Sue Drummond when vicious winds swept him into the ocean. Drummond hesitated to jump into the water since she wasn’t quite sure that she’ll be able to make it back to shore. All she could do was stand on the pier and helplessly watch as her dog was trying to keep his head above the water.
Luckily Soemawinata was just around the corner. The 20-year-old man who was in the midst of scattering his grandmother’s ashes didn’t hesitate for a second. He quickly stripped down to his undies and jumped straight into the raging ocean.
Soemawinata was determined. The man had nothing on his mind other than saving the poor dog from drowning. Thankfully he eventually managed to fight the waves and get ahold of the distressed pooch. The two swam back to shore, where anxious Drummond waited for them. The woman kneeled on the pier and helped them get out of the water.
Drummond gave the man a huge hug and finally let out a sigh of relief. Her doggo was finally back in her loving arms. She will surely remember the man’s selfless act for many years to come. After all, if it wasn’t for Soemawinata, Bibi probably wouldn’t have survived the horrific incident.
