Man Dives Into Deadly Torrent After It Sweapt His Dog Away

Almost any pet owner will tell you that they love their pet more than anything else. They’ll tell you that they’d be willing to risk their lives to save their beloved furry friends. The truth of the matter is that the vast majority of them (thankfully) never found themselves in such a situation. One devoted dog owner from Panama proved that he is well worthy of his doggo’s unconditional love. A video showing how the man dives into a deadly torrent after it swept his dog away, recently emerged online, and it’s both heartwarming and thrilling at the same time.

The 35-year-old man, who’s named Manuel Calderon went with his doggo, Fulo, and a couple of friends, to watch how the usually calm Sinai River overflows, after some heavy rain. The video starts with Fulo trying to cross the river to get to his owner who’s waiting for him on the other side. The white dog hesitates a little but eventually crosses the shallow, yet fierce current. That’s when the intense torrent sweeps the helpless doggo, who quickly disappears.

The man didn’t have to think twice. He dives into the deadly torrent and swims towards his doggo. He then pulled his beloved dog to the safety of the river bank.  “I was focused on the dog. And thank God I managed to grab him…I threw him onto the bank and got out some meters later,” he later shared with local news reporters. Not even for a split second did Calderon hesitate before jumping. He did it instinctively.  “An animal, just for being an animal, does not deserve to be disregarded, because it is a life after all. I ask you to take care of them because they also have feelings,” Calderon added.

Following the heartwarming rescue, the mayor of Calderon’s city, Hector Valdes, decided to add Calderon to the city’s Animal Welfare Department. There’s no doubt that the devoted pet owner proved that he’s well worthy of Fulo’s endless love.
