Mamma Dog Dumped With Her 9 Babies At A Church Parking Lot

It’s never right to dump a pet and leave it to fend for itself. When we came across this story, of a mamma dog who was dumped with her nine 2-week old babies, it infuriated us. We knew that we couldn’t let it slip without our acknowledgment. Let alone when it has such a happy ending.

The mamma dog and her nine 2-week-old pups were dumped in a blue plastic bin, in the North Side Baptist Church in Abilene, Texas. A good samaritan who passed the scene knew he had to do something to help the defenseless bunch. The man posted a picture of the mamma and her litter to social media, and it soon reached the right people.

Two selfless volunteers of the Paw Angel Animal Rescuer saw the post and immediately rushed to the scene. ‘I saw the picture and it just broke my heart and I called Angel and we went and rescued the dogs.’  One of the kind-hearted ladies later told CBS 12. The two women loaded the mother and her pups into the back of their van and brought them home. ‘I just don’t know how someone could do that, leaving momma and 2-week-old babies,’ the woman said.

The mother’s health was alarming. She was covered with countless open wounds, which were draining continuously. ‘We found lots of wounds on her that were opened and draining,’ she later recalled. The puppies, on the other hand, were flourishing in their new foster home. That is, all puppies but one. One of the pups had a tumor in his throat and sadly had to be euthanized.

The mother, who’s now named Dori, and her pups recovered from their terrible past. They are expected to be adopted sometime in the near future. If you live near Abilene and are interested in giving Dori, her pups, or any other dog a warm and loving home, feel free to contact Paw Angels here.
