Dracula Parrots Are The Dark Kings Of The Animal Kingdom

If you’ve ever found yourself wandering around the dense forests of Papua New Guinea, and heard frightening growling and rasping noises coming from the distance, maybe you also came across the scariest bird in the animal kingdom.

It has a pitch-black head, tail, and beak, a grey chest, and the most incredible, stunning, bright red chest, which give it a demonic look, that rightfully earned it the name Dracula Parrot.

Like mentioned earlier, Dracula Parrots live deep in the dense forests of Papua New Guinea’s mountains and can grow to sizes as large as 18 inches from beak to tail. Despite its terrifying name and facade, the Dracula Parrot’s diet is entirely vegetarian and consists of only a few species of figs.

Sadly, their stunning appearance had also made them the target of local poachers, who hunt them for their high-quality feathers. The Dracula Parrots are classified as vulnerable, on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
