While residents in the Bahamas are called to evacuate the area, homeless dogs are left helpless to fend for themselves outside with no shelter.
“The Voiceless Dogs of Nassau, Bahamas” is a refuge for homeless dogs managed by Chella Phillips. The animal activist helps the stray dogs by reaching organizations across the United States in the hope to find them homes. But as a result of Hurricane Dorian that hit the Bahamas, she has taken her work to a whole new level.
The dangerous Category 5 hurricane destroyed everything in its path and left people with ruined homes and abandoned dogs who have no refuge. Phillips decided to do a remarkable thing.
“Each island has abundance of homeless dogs, my heart is so broken for the ones without a place to hide a CAT 5 monster and only God can protect them now,” Phillips wrote on Facebook.
Since the dogs were too scared to stay at the refuge alone, Phillips brought 97 homeless dogs to stay at safety, in her house. The poor dogs are all inside the house together, waiting for the storm to pass with some music to ease their stress and air conditioning on.
Luckily, the incredible rescuer captured the current situation of all the dogs inside her house and shared it on Facebook. Her post has pulled at the internet community’s heartstrings; it has drawn over 66K likes and 44K shares.
“97 dogs are inside my house and 79 of them are inside my master bedroom. It has been insane since lastnight, poop and piss non stop but at least they are respecting my bed and nobody has dared to jump in,” the canine lover wrote.
The canine hero went above and beyond to rescue as much as dogs as she could. What an incredible woman. Please help her to help the poor abandoned dogs via Paypal: [email protected]
