An incredible video about a dog that was rescued from a frozen lake by a courageous man has become a social media sensation
Don Chatten is the hero of our story. He was at the Bark Park at Ellicott Creek Park, taking a stroll with his two dogs. Suddenly, one of the dogs started acting funny, and Don felt something was wrong. He didn’t know exactly what to expect until he heard a whimpering coming from a distance.
Don and his dogs headed down to the creek below, where they found a tiny, helpless dog, stranded in icy water.
Don called for help but knew there wasn’t enough time to wait for the rescue team. The dog was begging for help; he wasn’t going to survive much longer. So, in a heroic act, Don jumped into the icy water. The brave man broke the ice with his hands and walked in the freezing water, all the way to the poor pup. Don grabbed the dog, held him up by his chest, and took him back to solid ground.
The adorable canine was a Terrier mix named Jackson, who had been missing for some time now. Jackson was taken to the vet to ensure he was ok. He was given emergency care for hypothermia the moment he arrived.
The vet said that Don’s quick and selfless thinking saved Jackson’s life. In the end, Jackson was reunited with his beloved owner and Don, became a hero.
In spite of his new title, Don actually insists that his dog should receive the credit for saving Jackson because he was the one to sense that something was wrong in the first place. The way we see it, they’re both considered incredible heroes, and we’re lucky to live in a world where there are people like Don, and dogs like his.
