Cop Gives Donkey A Ride After Saving Him From A Busy Highway

Nothing seemed out of the ordinary for Robin Strader, from Norman, Oklahoma, as she was driving to work one morning. The kind-hearted woman had no way of knowing that before the day ends, she will witness possibly one of the strangest sightings ever. Luckily for us, the woman managed to snap a few hilarious images, of a merciful cop who gives a distressed donkey one adorable ride in his cruiser.

Robin was on her way to work when she spotted the poor donkey slowly stumbling along a busy highway. The kind woman immediately pulled over and herded the animal away from the busy road. She then notified the authorities who were quick to respond.

Officer Kyle Canaan of the Norman Police Department arrived minutes after Robin’s call. The puzzled officer didn’t know how to approach the situation first but quickly pulled himself together.
Robin kindly volunteered to foster the scared donkey until the authorities could get ahold of his owners. The only problem was that her house was a few miles away, and it would have taken a proper animal transport vehicle a few hours to get there. There was only one thing they could do – convince the stubborn animal to squeeze into the back of the police cruiser!

“Our officers encounter unexpected things every day while on duty,” the Norman, Police Department later wrote on Facebook“This morning, Officer Kyle Canaan responded to a call regarding a donkey on the loose in the 8100 block of 120th Avenue NE. To ensure the safety of the animal, he helped transport the donkey to a nearby home for safe-keeping until its owner could be located. It’s not everyday that you see a donkey in the backseat of a police car!”

Out of stress, or perhaps simply because he was caught right after breakfast, the donkey used the backseat of the patrol car as his private toilet. Regardless, the most important thing is that the kind-hearted officer successfully delivered the donkey, now named Squishy, to Robin’s place. The amazing officer later expressed his intensions to adopt Squishy if his owners could not be reached. Way to go Officer Kyle Canaan!
